Local scam — Hood River Police warn that a scammer using the name “Mr. Martinez” or “Matthew Martinez” has cost local businesses thousands of dollars. The scammer tells employees they must pay for an upcoming FedEx shipment, required to pass fire department inspection, to avoid a $10,000 fine. The scammer sends texts, pretending to be real managers and business owners, evening using their real names.
