The Mid-Columbia Economic Development District (MCEDD) and The Link Public transit announced that effective Feb. 19 the route between Hood River and The Dalles will increase to five stops a day on weekdays. Previously, the route only had four stops.
Arrival and departure times will be modified to improve connections with regional transit providers.
The Link is also expanding Dial-A-Ride services, effective March 4. The Blue Route will slightly reduce frequency to hourly stops between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. According to MCEED, the decision to increase Dial-a-Ride service was based on ridership data from the past year and current and future funding guidelines. The direct service allows them to focus on specific needs in Wasco County for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) and transportation for students, the elderly and disabled, and low-income individuals requiring door-to-door service.
Frequent riders are encouraged to purchase a Gorge Transit pass which offers unlimited travel on a fixed route from service providers The Link, Columbia Area Transit (CAT), Mt. Adams Transportation Services (MATS), and Skamania County Transit. Purchase at 802 Chenowith Loop Road, The Dalles, or gorgepass.com. The Link offices will be closed Feb. 19.
Updated schedules will be available one week prior to the effective date. Print brochures will be available and online catalogs will be located at www.mcedd.org/link.
