THE DALLES — The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents of South County, with particular attention to the Juniper Flat area, to an increase in criminal activity over the past several nights.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, individuals were apprehended and cited for poaching in the vicinity of Natural Pasture Road. Subsequently, on the night of Feb. 24, an outbuilding and a trailer off E. Wapinitia Road were targeted in attempted break-ins. While no items were reported stolen, the incidents are considered highly suspicious.
In response to these incidents, the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office will be implementing enhanced patrols in the affected areas. However, community cooperation is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of residents and their property. Residents are strongly encouraged to take the following preventative measures:
• Secure all properties: Ensure that homes, outbuildings, vehicles, trailers, and any other valuable items are securely locked when unattended.
• Utilize surveillance systems: Activate and maintain surveillance video systems and trail cameras, ensuring they are operational with fresh batteries.
The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting the community and its property. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. To report suspicious activity, please contact Wasco County Dispatch at 541-296-5454.
