Showy Milkweed is one of the varieties of native plants on sale now by Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District (HRSWCD).
The Hood River Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for its annual native plant sale! This year pre-ordering will be available through the HRSWCD website with more than 30 different species of native conifers, deciduous trees, and flowering shrubs starting at $2.50 per plant.
Placing orders early is recommended, as many species sell out quickly.
"Native plants provide a wealth of ecological services, providing food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife, stabilizing soils, providing wind breaks, and offering shade to streams," said a press release, "not to mention, they add beauty to the landscape throughout the year. These gray, cold winter months are the perfect time to look at your property and plan for spring plantings."
If you miss out on pre-ordering or the species you want sells out, HRSWCD will have limited quantities of most plants available for purchase during the pick-up days.
This year, the conservation district will also have limited quantities of potted native wildflowers available, with species such as Yarrow, Oregon Iris, Camas, Columbine, Bleeding Heart, Mountain Strawberry, Blanket Flower, and more. Depending on the species, these will be sold in 3.5-inch containers or small band pots, starting at $4 per plant. These will only be available for purchase on April 5-6, and will not be available for pre-order.
