HOOD RIVER — The Hood River County Energy Council, in collaboration with Seeds for the Sol, Electrify Oregon, and the Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network, will host a community outreach event to help county households navigate incentives for energy upgrades, improve emergency efficiency, and save money.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25 at May Street Elementary School, 1001 10th St. and is free and open to the public.
There will be two presentations about the overall goals of the event, one in English and one in Spanish.
“People will come away energized in every sense of the word, and they will be ready to start their energy efficiency journey, saving money along the way,” said event co-organizer Linda Ganzini.
Attendees will learn:
• How to repair, weatherize, air seal, and insulate your home
• Which resources are available to help with installing high-efficiency heating and cooling appliances such as electric heat pumps and high-efficiency gas furnaces
• How to receive incentives and cash payments for energy conservation measures, no matter what type of home energy heating and cooling you have.
These improvements can dramatically reduce ongoing energy costs, increase comfort, and make the home healthier. Some resources are limited to customers of Pacific Power or NW Natural.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for a free, personalized home energy assessment to identify home incentive upgrades. Exhibitors from energy providers and contractors specializing in HVAC, hot water, weatherization, and insulation will discuss how to improve home energy efficiency and which incentives are available. Childcare and food will be provided. A limited number of weatherization kits from Energy Trust of Oregon will be shared. Attendees will receive a raffle ticket for one of four solar-powered cell phone chargers.
The event is sponsored in part through funding from Pacific Power.
