Hood River City Council — Councilmembers unanimously passed Hood River Garbage Rate Increase Request Resolution 2025-19 at the Aug. 11 board meeting. The rate increase of 2.08% is effective Sept. 1. The estimated rate impact for a single-family home with a 65-gallon cart is an approximate $0.65 increase to $32 per month. The annual rate increase is slightly lower than last year’s 2.65% increase.

Mattress recycling event — At the Aug. 11 Hood River City Council meeting, Jim Winterbottom, district manager of Waste Connections, announced that a mattress recycling event will be open to Hood River County residents Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can recycle up to 10 mattresses or box springs at no charge.
