HOOD RIVER — Celebrate Recovery, a ministry of Hood River Alliance Church for the past 17 years, marks a new milestone: The opening of Journey House, a transitional sober living home.
“This groundbreaking initiative will provide a safe and supportive space for individuals pursuing lasting recovery,” said a press release.
Celebrate Recovery has become a beacon of hope, healing, and restoration, continued the press release. “Seventeen years ago, Lud Tolbert and his ministry team started Celebrate Recovery (CR) at Hood River Alliance Church, planting seeds of hope that continue to flourish today. Over the years, several other leaders have risen from places of despair and hopelessness, finding healing and restoration through Jesus Christ and the ministry of Celebrate Recovery. Many of these individuals, having experienced their own transformation, now dedicate themselves to guiding others on the path to freedom. The 12th step emphasizes sharing hope and encouragement, fueling CR's mission to raise up leaders passionate about helping others discover life-changing hope. In this way, Celebrate Recovery and the 12-step process have become catalysts for transformation, empowering ‘Hope Dealers’ to spread light in the darkest corners.”
“Every step forward we take today is built on the foundation laid by those who came before us,” said Tina Combs, associate pastor and Celebrate Recovery leader. “The lives being changed, the healing being found, and the hope being restored—none of it would be possible without the sacrifices and dedication of leaders who have gone ahead of us. Because of volunteers’ willingness to serve, Celebrate Recovery continues to be a place where people experience freedom in Christ.”
To commemorate these milestones, Hood River Alliance Church invites the community to two special events:
Journey House Open House (all ages welcome), April 3 from 3-5 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. at 1217 May Street (please park at Jackson Park). “Experience the unveiling of Journey House and celebrate its launch as a safe haven for recovery.”
Celebrate Recovery 17-year Celebration (ages 18 and over only to preserve safety for those attending CR), April 3 beginning with dinner at 5:45 p.m. at Hood River Alliance Church, 2650 Montello Ave. Testimony at 6:30 p.m. “Celebrate Recovery and give thanks for God’s faithfulness.”
