HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley girls wrestling team advanced three wrestlers to the 2026 OSAA 6A/5A state tournament based on their finishes at the Special District 2 tournament Feb. 13-14 at Sandy High.
They include district champion Valeria Solorio Campos, a senior, who won the title at 170 pounds. She won all four of her district matches by fall, including the championship match over Dominic Rodela of Portland’s Jefferson High.
Joining her at state will be Ayleen Marquez, who placed second at district at 110 pounds. Marquez won three matches before losing in the final to Johawna Bass of Portland’s Roosevelt. Bass wrestled at state in 2025.
At 155 pounds, senior Xiomara Gordian-Gomez of HRV was fourth after she won four of her six wrestled matches. Both of Gordian-Gomez’ losses were to Alex Khoury of Centennial. Also for Hood River, Rubi Arriola Sandoval placed fifth at 190 pounds.
Campos and Gordian-Gomez also qualified for state in 2025.
The top four finishers in each of the 14 weight brackets at district earned state tourney berths. Hood River came off a fifth-place finish at the 2026 Northwest Oregon Conference district tournament Feb. 7 at Hillsboro High School. The Eagles placed 11th at district out of 26 teams with 91 points. Centennial won the district team title.
