It's time to sign up for Books In Bloom, the 2003 Summer Reading Program for the Fort Vancouver Regional Library!
Kids and teens are invited to take part in another fun-filled summer of reading and activities.
The library is offering two reading incentive programs this year-one for children through age 11 and a teen program for ages 12 through 18.
In addition to the reading incentives, the White Salmon Valley Community Library will be offering weekly programs starting Tuesday, June 17. All programs will be held in the Library's Sprint Baker Gallery unless otherwise noted.
The first program, Bursting Into Bloom, will be on Tuesday, June 17, at 2 p.m. Join artist Janet Essley and help construct the largest blooms in the Gorge. Attendees will create a larger-than-life (very much larger) garden to remember for everyone to enjoy all summer long!
Amy Gray with Zing Productions presents "Peter & the Wolf" on Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m. Learn a bit about the orchestra and laugh along with the hapless conductor.
The Singing Sisters, Jen and Wendy Bernard, will present theatrical, high-energy music with wild & wacky songs for kids of all ages on Tuesday, July 1, at 2 p.m.
Stretch your imagination with Tater A. Peal in "Comical Catastrophes" on Thursday, July 10, at 2 p.m. Gather at Bingen City Park and laugh along with one of the Northwest's most extraordinary clowns. You will be amazed! And don't forget your library card! You can check books out from the Bookmobile!
The Yarn Spinners will present fractured fairy tales (in living color) on Tuesday, July 15, at 2 p.m. Enjoy "Jack-in-the-Beanstalk," "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and other favorite classics.
Creature Feature with Stephen Lattanzi will be on hand on Thursday, July 24. There will be two performances-one at 11 a.m. and one at 2 p.m. Do you dare come to the library to see snakes and other reptiles? Do you dare to touch them? Learn about these fascinating creatures and their habits while having lots of fun!
The last weekly Summer Reading program and Grand Finale Celebration will be on Tuesday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. with Mad Science in Spin, Pop, Boom! It's chemistry for the whole family! Experience the amazing Flaming Didgeridoos, the astounding flask family performing unbelievable feats, eruptions, geysers, and more chemical "magic." Enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.
