Get out of your house and bring the kids to enjoy a summer evening with "Storytime in the Park," at Daubenspeck Park in Bingen.
This year Storytime in the Park will be moving to Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. Storytime will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 18.
This will be the 10th year Mid-Columbia Ministries will be presenting Storytime in the Park to share the gospel. Each year, families have come to Daubenspeck Park to enjoy the music, puppet skits and storytelling.
The puppets have made people laugh, the songs allow the crowd to interact and have fun, and the stories have enthralled local children and a few parents as well.
Team members who have helped with previous years have kept Storytime in the Park fun and enthusiastic and geared towards kids ages three to 12.
This year, those who come will meet puppet characters such as Faith Man, a superhero who gives guidance and counseling to Billy. Billy is a boy who is often tempted to do the wrong thing by the evil Negatron. There will also be appearances by the popular Rovercomer, The Faith Dog.
As in prior years, prizes will be awarded on a weekly basis to whoever can remember the memory verses. Treats will be available for all.
This year, an eager team of over 25 youth have volunteered their time to run Storytime in the Park with only a minimal amount of help from the adults.
The team has been practicing its puppeteering and storytelling skills and has been training for the last month. The youth are looking forward to entertaining the families in our community this summer.
McKenzie Childs, who is a part of this year's team and has helped in previous years, shared her thoughts. "I look forward to being able to share the love of Jesus with everyone that is there.
Seth Bell, another team member, said, "I am really looking forward to Storytime this year and adding to the activities that I once enjoyed watching as a kid."
