Prosecutor reports on juvenile case

On Oct. 19, 2001, a report of a theft at the Goldendale High School was received by law enforcement.

It was determined several individuals, including juveniles, had broken into the concession stand at the high school football field and taken numerous items. The individuals were subsequently contacted by law enforcement and charges were brought by the Klickitat County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Of the three juveniles involved in the offense, two had previously pled guilty.

On Sept. 20, 2002, the third juvenile, age 14, pled guilty to charges of burglary in the second degree and theft in the second degree.

On Oct. 7, 2002, a sentencing hearing was held. The court determined the standard sentence range of 0-60 days in detention was inadequate and sentenced the juvenile to 104 weeks in a juvenile rehabilitation facility. The juvenile was also ordered to pay full restitution to the school.
