Columbia tilted the match back in its favor in the third set, however, scoring a 25-8 win. CHS then finished off TLG with a hard-earned 25-22 decision in the fourth set.

"We played much better this game against (TLG) and it helped that the girls were really excited to play at home with some many people watching," Bruins Coach Heidi Shultz noted.

Serving played a key part in the Bruins' victory. Columbia victimized TLG's serve receive for 18 aces.

Kellyn McCutcheon led the way with seven aces. Lacey Kruse followed with six, Carah Concienne had three and Adrianne DeLay and Andrea Helton each tallied one.

A more aggressive defensive effort also helped the CHS cause this time around.

"The girls really covered their hitters and tips better, which is what we worked on in practice all week," Shultz said.

Kruse and Concienne each recorded seven kills to pace CHS's attack. Helton registered five kills and Gaby Duniphin chipped in with two. Moreover, Kruse and Helton tied for the team lead in blocks; each had two of CHS's six blocks.

Other statistical leaders were DeLay and McCutcheon with three digs apiece, and DeLay with eight assists.

Trout Lake/Glenwood 3, at Lyle/Wishram 0:

The Eagle Mustangs recorded 20 kills and 19 service aces in their Sept. 15 non-league victory over the Cougars. Scores were 25-18, 25-22, 25-15.

Liz Vogt led the TLG attack with eight kills, Dana Kavanagh tallied four and Audrey Hill had three.

TLG's top servers were Kavanagh (18/19, 3 aces), Hill (25/27, 6 aces) and Vogt (11/12, 2 aces).

TLG Coach Angie Cox said the Eagle Mustangs' teamwork, enthusiasm and improved on-court communication were the differences in the outcome.

For Lyle/Wishram, standouts were Lexi Becker (3 kills, 2 blocks, 6 serving aces), Brianna Brock (6 aces, 90 percent serving) and Brittany Price (2 kills, 1 block).

At Sunnyside Christian 3, Lyle/Wishram 2:

The Cougars won the first two sets of last Thursday's non-league match, 25-20, 25-21, but couldn't finish what they started.

Instead, the host Knights rebounded to win the next three, 25-17, 25-14, 15-9.

Brittany Price had a strong match for the Cougars (0-4) and finished with seven kills and six blocks. Brianna Brock added two kills and connected on 100 percent of her serves.

Vancouver Christian 3, at Lyle/Wishram 2:

The visiting Vikings pulled out the victory by winning the fifth set of their Sept. 16 non-league match, 15-10.

The teams split the first four sets, with Vancouver Christian winning the first and third, 25-20 and 25-20, and Lyle/Wishram the second and fourth, 25-21, 25-16.

Standouts for the Cougars were Lexi Becker (9 kills), Brittany Price (5 kills), Carissa Coe (7 aces) and Cassie Mireless (100 percent serving).
