On Sept. 21, Detective Sergeant Erik Anderson became certified as a Registered Medicolegal Death Investigator in testing held at Ventura, Calif.
The certification test is administered by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, (ABMDI.) The ABMDI is a national professional certification board for death investigators.
Sgt. Anderson became only the fourth law enforcement officer in the Northwest states to obtain this certification. The training and testing was made possible by Sheriff Chris Mace and the Klickitat County Commissioners.
Sergeant Anderson currently supervises and directs the Major Crimes Unit at the Klickitat County Sheriff's Department.
To be eligible for certification, an applicant must have documented training in death investigations, have 400-plus hours of death investigation experience, and be currently employed in the field.
Certified investigators benefit the community by ensuring that complete, professional, and impartial investigations are conducted in this field.
