On October 25, 2001, law enforcement received a report of the possible sexual abuse of a minor. Further investigation led to a juvenile being questioned about the incident.
The juvenile, the minor's half-brother, was subsequently charged by the Klickitat County Prosecutor's Office with incest in the first degree.
On December 2, 2002, the juvenile pled guilty to the original charge. He was sentenced on February 27, 2003.
After a hearing the court held the standard sentence range for this offense, 0-30 days detention and 0-150 hours of community service, was inadequate and would constitute a Manifest Injustice. The court ordered the juvenile to serve 124 to 156 weeks in a secure detention facility.
Upon his release the juvenile will be placed on parole with the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration.
On Oct. 11, 2002, law enforcement responded to a report of property damage in Goldendale. It was determined that two juveniles had broken the windows out of a house using marbles and a paint ball gun.
Both juveniles were subsequently charged with malicious mischief in the second degree by the Klickitat County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
On Feb. 13, 2003, the first of the juveniles pled guilty to the charge. The court determined that the standard sentencing range of 15 to 30 weeks in detention was inadequate and such a sentence would result in a Manifest Injustice.
As a result of this finding the court sentenced the juvenile to a range of 107 to 150 weeks detention at a state run facility. He is also required to pay restitution in the amount of $273.40.
