Columbia High rallied from an early fourth quarter 17-point deficit to get within seven points late in its boys junior varsity basketball game against Corbett, Ore., here Dec. 18.
But the visiting Cardinals, who led at every break in play, hung on to win their rematch with the Junior Bruins, 46-37.
Corbett made a good start on its series-sweeping win, taking a 14-3 first-quarter lead.
By the end of the second quarter, though, Columbia (2-2) pulled within 20-13, thanks to six points by Caleb Huth and two each by Felix Torres and Jordon Barnedt.
At the outset of the third, Torres drained his second 3-pointer of the game to make it a four-point game at 20-16.
But that was as close as the Junior Bruins would get. Corbett answered Torres' trey with a 13-point run that stretched its lead to 33-16.
Neal LaGrander kept the contest from turning into a Corbett runaway, however, scoring all of his team-leading 10 points in the last 11:36 of the game.
