Horizon too much for Cascade Locks

As a rule, Horizon coach Mark Lago plays his subs when the team builds a three-goal lead over an opponent. With subs on the field for some playing time, and positions switched around a bit for Horizon, the second half of the match was much closer, with the Pirates gaining more control at the midfield and pushing forward for some scoring opportunities.

Horizon goalie Cameron Root swapped positions with Stephen Stenberg in the second half. Root took to the field and scored the final goal of the game.

“It was a good win,” Lago commented. “All our subs got in and they did extremely well.”

For the Pirates, goalie Race Fischer saw a lot of action. He had several saves that kept the score relatively low for the number of shots the Hawks took.

“I don’t think our team was menatally prepared for the game,” Cascade Locks Coach Leif Fox said. “After our last two games against 2-A schools, I think the team expected the game to be easier than it was.”
