Eight crazy authors coming to HR

The Crazy 8s Author Tour is the brainchild of author George Wright.

His idea? A group of Oregon writers will celebrate the written word throughout the state. The result? 8 Towns, 8 Bookstores, 8 Events, and 28 amazing authors.

"The tour is totally volunteer," says Wright. "It has been the generosity of the authors that has made it work. They are passionate about supporting independent bookstores, libraries and our communities of readers."]

About the authors visiting Hood River:

Bill Cameron is the author of dark, gritty mysteries featuring Skin Kadash: "County Line," "Day One," "Chasing Smoke," and "Lost Dog."

Robin Cody is the Estacada-raised author of "Ricochet River," a novel full of rivers and fish and Indian lore.

James Bernard Frost is the celebrated author of the novel "World Leader Pretend," as well as the Lowell Thomas Award-winning ] travel guide for vegetarians, "The Artichoke Trail."

Lauren Kessler is an author, narrative journalist, immersion reporter, blogger, chicken farmer and quadruple Aries. She is the author of six works of narrative nonfiction, including "My Teenage Werewolf," "Dancing with Rose"(Finding Life in the Land of Alzheimer's) and "Stubborn Twig."

Barbara Roberts was elected Governor of Oregon in 1990 and became the state's first woman governor and one of the first 10 female governors in the nation. Her new autobiography, "Up the Capitol Steps, A Woman's March to the Governorship," captures a period of our nation's political history and a view of women's expanding role in government.

William L. Sullivan is the author of many hiking guides and four novels. Sullivan's fourth novel, "The Case of D.B. Cooper's Parachute" is a thriller about D.B. Cooper, the mysterious airplane hijacker who escaped by parachute with $200,000 in 1971.

Eliot Treichel is the author of the story collection "Close Is Fine."

Ellen Waterston's "Cold Snap" features assorted writings by her

George Byron Wright, C8 Tour coordinator and emcee was born in The Dalles. His first novel, "Baker City 1948," was followed by "Tillamook 1952," and "Roseburg 1959." He then moved on to more contemporary fiction but stayed true to ] his Oregon roots with his fourth novel, "Driving to Vernonia." His most recent novel is, "Newport Blues, A Salesman's Lament."
