The Lyle Community Council was approached by Julie Navarro, from the Dallesport Community Council, with a project they would like to co-host with Lyle and other surrounding communities. "Art in the Park" with art and craft projects all coming together for a day at the Lyle Park Place. If this is an interest of yours please call Julie at (509) 637-5644.
Horizons Leadership Plenty held its first class this past Saturday. The attendance was smaller than hoped for but everyone was actively involved and learning personal talents they have that can contribute to the enrichment of their community. To fulfill the Horizon requirements and the success of the project, 20 individuals need to take the classes, so you are urged to attend at least some of the sessions. The next one will be Saturday, Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lyle United Methodist Church on Klickitat St. Once again lunch and snacks will be provided, fun, no homework and no tests are the plans! Seems we put the wrong time in last week, and for that we apologize.

Falls with broken bones seem to be abundant lately. Joan Titus just had her cast removed, when Mary Pierce fell, breaking her wrist and is now sporting one. Sherri Starkin's mother (who lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.) was seriously injured with many broken bones in a pedestrian/car accident and Sherri has left to be at her bedside. Prayers go out to all families.
The next meeting of the Cultural Exchange committee will be on Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. again in the Lyle United Methodist Church basement, to establish logistics, fundraising and a name for the event.

"Standing on the edge of a sheer bluff above Chamberlain Lake and the Columbia, Olaf pointed out schools of fish drifting in the green waters 500 below. Mt. Hood shimmered dream like in the fall haze. Does slipped like shadows in the little groves which divided the fields. "
