Wes Blankenship cleaned up in the boys throwing events to lead Columbia High's boys team to a second-place finish at a four-team meet last Thursday in Ridgefield.
Adam Neff scored victories in the 100- and 400-meter dashes (11.07, 51.41) as CHS's only other multiple-event winner. He also anchored the Bruins' winning 4x400 relay team (3:39.35).
Single-event winners for CHS included Chris Davis in the long jump (18.10.5); Brett Schutt in the 300 hurdles (43.49); and Will Brasuell in the 200 (23.93).
It was Schutt's second hurdles race and Brasuell's first foray into the 200 field.
Bruins Coach Doug Miller said the times posted by both athletes were "respectable."
Katie Mansfield turned her season around by winning her first triple jump of the season with a season's-best leap of 31-11.5.
The Columbia High girls' third-place showing was buttressed by first-place finishes by Jeni Stembridge in the 400 (1:05.28); Abby Zuck in the 100 (PR of 13.32); and the 4x100 relay team (53.35).
Forks won the boys competition, outscoring CHS, 79.5-70. Ridgefield prevailed on the girls side with 80 points. CHS tallied 55.
