Riverhawk boys punch ticket to state playoffs

The Dalles High Riverhawks boys basketball team clinched third place in the six-team Intermountain Conference last week and advanced to the Class 5A state playoffs for the first time in 11 years.

HRV softball splits games with No. 6 Hermiston

They may be in one of the toughest leagues in the state, but the HRV softball team continues to perform well in the Columbia River Conference despite the team’s fourth-place ranking, splitting games with the sixth-ranked Hermiston Bulldogs this weekend.

Eagles earn first OSAA Sportsman-ship Award

Hood River Valley High School athletes received a special honor this week as the Oregon Schools Activities Association released the list of winners for its first Sportsmanship Award. One school in each classification — six total — was chosen to receive the newly created award based on a vote within each conference and a final selection by the Sportsmanship Review Committee. The award, which is planned to be given annually, includes recognition throughout the state and a $1,000 gift for each winning school.
