Lyle's offense posted respectable offensive totals in last week's non-league 8-man football encounter, but its defense couldn't stop Condon, Ore., from putting up bigger numbers.
Lyle's offensive unit amassed 347 yards of total offense in 41 plays and scored five touchdowns.
But the Cougars were at a loss to resist the Blue Devils, who shredded Lyle's defense for eight touchdowns en route to a 52-32 victory last Thursday.
The loss to the Blue Devils ended the Cougars' winning streak at two games and dropped their season record to 3-2.
For Lyle, senior quarterback Justin Carlson scored two touchdowns, on runs of 40 and 47 yards, threw to junior Callan Johnson for another and totaled 156 yards of offense, including a career-high 121 on the ground.
Freshman Noah LaFrenz had the biggest gainer of the night for Lyle, running 65 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 92 yards rushing. Junior Kalvin Kernan also ran for a TD.
Defensive standouts for Lyle included Johnson (5 tackles, 15 assists, one sack) and Carlson (4 tackles, 6 assists, one interception).
The Cougars host the Arlington (Ore.) Honkers this Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
