The top female finisher was Sarah Reiter — for the third successive year.
The annual race begins at the Odell Fire Station and ends at Hood River’s Jackson Park, covering 7.4 miles and finishing through a gauntlet of Fourth of July parade goers along 12th Street The Heights.
Wagner, a state placer this past OSAA track and field season, won the race over his distance training teammate the past four years, Logan King. Wagner won in 40 minutes, 34 seconds. King was second in 41:17, and past multi-winner Ahrlin Bauman was third in 42:38.
Reiter, the female course record-holder (41:49, 2024), is a two-time U.S. Olympic Trials marathon qualifier and was fourth overall this past week in 42:44.
The overall course record is 37:18, set in 2002 by Bauman, who also won the race in 2022.
HRV distance runners King and Wagner finished seventh and 10th in 2024. Savina Davis, a state placer in track and field for HRV, was 14th (47:57) this year and the top finishing teen-age female.
