WHITE SALMON — The Columbia High School cross country team heads into its championship season this coming week, racing at the 2025 Trico League meet Oct. 23 at Vancouver Lake Park.
The boys race is at 4 p.m. followed by the girls at 4:40 p.m. The Bruins had their final tune-up for the league championship Oct. 15 at a six-team race in Castle Rock. Pacing the Bruins were Lilah Zimmerman, who was second in the girls 5,000-meter race in 19 minutes, 40 seconds. Sasha Pash of La Center won the race in 19:35. The Columbia girls were second among four scoring teams (five finishers) behind La Center. Columbia’s Kathryn O’Connor was fifth in 21:43; Maisy Kollman was 11th in 22:51; Maya Tama, 12th, 22:57; and Eda O’Connor and Lila Urban, 18th and 19th, in 23:50 and 24:08.
The Bruin boys were second, also to La Center. Luther Thomas led a three-runner Columbia pack, finishing fifth in 17:52. Teammate Ethan Hayes was sixth in 18:03, and Colby Clark seventh in 18:05. The Bruins also had team point scorers in Everett Coyner, 13th, 18:35, and Carter Smith, 22nd, 19:06. The top four Columbia runners ran personal best times.
