THE DALLES — The Dalles High School had six placers en route to its ninth-place finish Dec. 6 at the Ranger Classic 2025 wrestling tournament at Estacada High School.
The Riverhawks finished with 64 points among the 12 scoring teams in the tourney won by La Grande.
The top placer for The Dalles was Josh Brackenbury, who was runner-up at 190 pounds. Gladstone’s Charlie Becker won by decision over the Riverhawk wrestler, 6-1, in the championship match. Brackenbury, who competed at the 4A state tourney in 2025, won three matches by decision to qualify for the Ranger Classic final.
The Riverhawks had three fourth-place finishers. Adrian Miramonte won one match at 285 pounds and advanced with a forfeit on another. Dante Martinez was 2-2 at 175 pounds. Danner Varland finished fourth at 106.
Harley Scott (144) and Caiden Brackenbury (150) finished sixth for The Dalles. Brackenbury lost in the first round but won his next three matches before retiring for the day. Scott, who wrestled at state a season ago at 138, twice won by decision in the opening two rounds before losing in the semifinals and then twice in consolation.
The semifinal loss came to eventual champion — and three-time Washington state tourney wrestler — Jaxon McAtee of Skyview High School. McAtee beat La Grande 2025 state wrestler Colton Livingston in the Ranger final — attesting to the toughness of the 144-pound bracket.
