The Dalles swim team
Mike Weber photo/fileThe Dalles High Riverhawks boys and girls swim team competed in the Dec. 2 Jay Rowan Relays in Redmond, recording five top-five finishes.
The event consisted of both boys and girls team members competing in mixed relays together while swimming the required stroke.
The Riverhawks swam to their best finish with a second-place effort in the 200-meter freestyle relay. The Dalles quartet of Rhett Loughmiller, Maverick Varland, Lillen Vaught and Kaiya Doty combined to swim in 2 minutes, 9.44 seconds. The Riverhawks quartet of Randall Carter, Sawyer Dray, Reta Rincon, and Rowena Benjamin combined to swim to a fifth-place finish in the same event at 2:15.48.
Rincon, Doty, Loughmiller and Dray were third in the mixed breaststroke relay at 2:57. 56. The Dalles also took fourth in the mixed 200 medley relay as Dray, Loughmiller, Doty and Vaught timed in at 2:39.13. The quartet of Benjamin, Rincon, Varland and Carter were fifth in 2:49.02.
