In association with the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, Cascade Locks and the Northwest Trail Alliance are hosting a free event that day on the Easy CLIMB Trail System in Cascade Locks from 4-6 p.m. The event will be a great chance for kids and parents to learn next skills together and check out the friendly trail system developed on Port of Cascade Locks property east of town. Although free, registration is required and can be done onsite at 3:30 p.m. that day. Activities will include a group trail ride and scavenger hunt, riding instruction, entertainment, food, games, prizes and more. Overnight camping and a bonfire (weather permitting) is also on the agenda.
IMBA trail building workshop Oct. 18
Hood River Area Trail Stewards invites anyone interested in learning the proper way to build and maintain recreational trails to take part in a free trail building school on Oct. 18, hosted by the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The school will involve three hours of classroom instruction, followed by about four hours in the field doing hands-on trail work and field instruction and an optional group ride the following day. Participants should be at the Hood River Fire Station meeting room at 9 a.m. Oct. 18 for the classroom portion. Lunch will be provided, and afterword the group will depart for the hands-on portion of the school.
