HRV baseball again headed to 5A championship game

Eagle baseball players celebrate over their 5A semifinal win over Churchill, May 31, 2016.

The Hood River Valley Eagles are headed to Keizer for the OSAA 5A baseball state championship game for the third year in a row, shutting out Churchill 1-0 in Tuesday evening's semifinal game that was played in Hood River.

Senior pitcher Patrick Harvey once again provided the spark on offense that HRV needed for the win, hitting a double in the bottom of the third inning that plated junior second baseman Morgan Williams for the only run of the game. Harvey was also lights-out on the mound for the Eagles, allowing two hits and no runs over seven innings, while striking out four batters. The Eagles also only managed two hits Tuesday, with the other coming off a single hit by senior outfielder Chase Lariza in the bottom of the second.
