Knoll, Davis win NWOC cross country races

MILWAUKIE – Senior Sam Knoll won the boys race and sophomore Savina Davis the girls at a four-school, Oct. 15 Northwest Oregon Conference cross country meet at Rex Putnam.
Knoll returned from an injury, which caused him to miss three meets this season, to win the 5,000-meter varsity race in 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Knoll shadowed Corbin Stoddart most of the race before pulling away from the Canby runner and winning by six seconds.
Also among the top five finishers (team point scorers) for HRV were: Victor Coffman (17:24); Brayden Strong (18:31); Ethan Clough (18:40); and Andres Moretti (18:42).
Davis won the varsity girls race by more than a minute in 19:28. Also in the varsity race, teammate Isabel Ulland ran 22:59; Noah Crain ran 23:34; and Piper Johnson ran 24:47.
Hood River trained through the race as it focuses on the upcoming NWOC district meet, Oct. 30 at Blue Lake Regional Park in Troutdale. The Eagles will have a final tune-up race Oct. 22 at the Happy Hustle at Crystal Lake Sports Park in Corvallis.
