Action in the Monday night Industrial League highlighted competitive bowling last week at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. The big gun was Randy Tumlinson who, along with teammate Travis Adams on the Tinman Heating quintet, put a huge 400-pin smack-down on the formidable Hood River Supply crew, waxing them in a 27–3 win. Randy logged scratch 220, 212, and 202 games in his stellar scratch 634 series which was a whopping 154 pins over his average. That was the top performance by a bowler in league action last week.
Travis caught some of that momentum too, notching fine scratch 220 and 202 games, plus a scratch 617 series that was 107 pins over his average. Pretty tough to top those two when they are that hot! In the same session, Randy’s Painting continued their league-leading dominance with a 24–6 whipping of Columbia Hills RV thanks to the big-bending slants of lefty Wally Jaksha that were on target all night long. Wally racked up scratch 224 and 204 games on his way to a scratch 626 series which was 113 pins over his average.
For the past several weeks, at least one team member from Randy’s Painting has bowled way over their average, carrying the team to big wins, and with only a couple of weeks left in Round 1, Randy’s Painting has a huge 34-point lead. It’s going to be very difficult to dislodge them from that vise grip that they have on first place. Randy, Wally and Travis bowled so well, they made the team of the week.
Joining them on the fab five are Karen Baumsteiger and Jim Bull. By the way, this is the first time all five of these bowlers made the team of the week this season. And, better yet, Karen is new to league action having recently moved to the area from California. Karen had a nice outing in the Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies League, where she finished up 103 pins over her average. Welcome to Hood River, Karen; how does it feel to bask in our bowling limelight? Jim Bull needs no introduction — he’s been a regular league bowler for as long as we can remember. He also had a good one in the Colts & Fillies where he popped a nice scratch 200 game and ended up 95 pins over his average for the session. Great bowling everybody!
