The Hood River Valley Swim Team hosted their home Secure Storage Spring Sprinter swim meet on Saturday May 7. Fifty-five Osprey swimmers competed with 200 swimmers from around the state at the meet.
Oregon City Swim Team won the meet with 1135 points and their girls 200-yard freestyle relay set an Oregon swimming record for their age group.
HRVST was second with 504 points, just ahead of the third-place Tornados from Vancouver. All-told, 10 teams competed at the Spring Sprinter. Secure Storage provided special heat winners with goggles, caps, granola bars, and bungee straps for goggles to help make the event extra fun for all participants.
First-time competitors for HRVST included: Isa Arndt, Magnolia Clermont, Lilah Day, Ronan Day, Jessica Galvez, Hazel Haspela, Izabel McCormack, Namfon Paphanchith, Nampheung Paphanchith, Remmie Russo, Trudy Sanders, and Lani Uffelman.
Other swimmers showing great improvement included: Elijah And Izaiah Adams, Maya Arndt, Adam Burke, Willow Cohen, Ivy Collins, Amy Elliott, Kylin Elliott, Lucas Elliott, Jessica Galvez, Colin Gerald, Miyuki Gerald, Mallory Keller, Alea McCarty, Abby McCormack, Rowan McKEnna, Seth Millan, Xavier Petersen, Maria Sandoval, James and Oliver Schofield, Catie Shuster, Anna Southall, Wyatt Stelma, Lillie Tomlinson, and Sarah Wang.
