HOOD RIVER – The 2025-26 Hood River Valley High School boys wrestling team is ready to hit the mats this weekend in their first meet, the Tyrone Woods Memorial Tournament, at 8 a.m. on Dec. 6 at Oregon City High School.
The Eagles, led by coach Austin Wallace-Lister, began practice on Nov. 17 in preparation for the season, featuring a team with 25 returning wrestlers from 2024-25. The Eagles finished third at the 2025 Northwest Oregon Conference district meet, won by Canby.
“We’re working hard,” said Wallace-Lister. “We’re training every day to get better as individuals and as a team, and we’re looking forward to getting started with the season.”

Wallace-Lister, who is in his first year at the head of the program, is focused on the progression of his team from start to finish in 2025-26.
“I’m excited to see how much they can overcome within three to four months of the season, from when they first started to when they end. I’m excited to see that progress from day one to the end of the season.”
Every year, there are things that make each group of athletes unique. Wallace-Lister said: “What makes this group so special is their dedication, their hard work ethic, their persistence, and their commitment to the sport of wrestling.”
The Eagle boys’ first home appearance is 10 a.m. on Jan. 10 in the Baker / Powder Valley vs. Hood River Valley dual.
