THE GORGE - The Dufur High Rangers, led by senior Tygh Timinsky, shot a team score of 198 to win the Nixyaawii Invitational nine-hole tournament May 6 at Wildhorse Resort Golf Course in Pendleton.
Timinsky shot 38 to notch her ninth tourney win and help lead the Rangers to the victory. Senior teammates Cynthia Medina (52) and Kaylee Wiles (53,) and junior Piper Murders (55) rounded out Dufur’s top-four scorers. Senior Makaila Collins shot a non-counting score of 58 for Dufur.
The Rangers were scheduled to compete in the OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 6 girls golf district tournament May 11-12 in Madras. The top two teams from the district tourney qualify for the OSAA state tournament May 18-19 at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Redmond. The top five individual players also qualify for the state tourney.
The Dalles
The Dalles High Riverhawks was scheduled to compete in the OSAA Class 4A/3A/2A/1A Special District 2 girls golf tournament May 11-12 in Molalla. The top two teams and the top five individual players qualify for the state tournament May 18-19 in Redmond.
The Dalles senior Elliot Winwood, who is the Riverhawk’s No. 1 player, was hoping to qualify for state for the first time ever. (Katelynn Vassar was the last The Dalles girls golfer to reach the state tourney - in 2024.) The Dalles Coach Nate Timmons says his team has a good chance to advance to the tournament.
Sophomore Hailey Cain, Rozlyn Elliot and Athena Lepinski are the other team members for the Riverhawks.
The Dalles High boys golf team was scheduled to compete in the Tri-Valley Conference District Tournament May 11-12 at Arrowhead Golf Course in Molalla. The top two teams and top five individuals qualify for the state tourney May 18-19 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.
The Dalles senior Andrew Westin is the No. 1 player for the Riverhawks.
Hood River Valley
The Hood River Valley High Eagles boys and girls golf teams both competed in an OSAA Class 5A Northwest Oregon Conference district tourney May 4 at Indian Creek Golf Course in Hood River. The Eagles boys squad recorded a season-best team score of 329 to take second place in a seven-team event. The Canby High Cougars won the tourney with a score of 327.
Sophomore Aksel Betz led the Eagles boys with a 77 to take second place individually out of a 37-player field. Canby sophomore Connor Holden earned medalist honors with a 74. The Eagle trio of junior Max Kellner (82) and sophomores Wyatt Bahn (83) and Ren Sandahl (87) rounded out the top four scorers. HRV senior Josh McLaughlin shot a non-counting 92.
With his second-place finish, Betz qualified for the state tournament May 18-19 at Tokatee Golf Course in McKenzie.
The Eagle girls golf team, guided by Coach Mark Bauman, also competed in the seven-team NWOC district tourney May 4 in Hood River and placed fourth. Junior Kailee Klindt led the Eagles with a score of 99. Senior Bella Howe followed with a score of 107. HRV’s duo of freshman Sadee Mason (131) and junior Reese Goldman (131) completed the team score.
Bauman said Howe, Klindt and Rayla Yasui (a 2025 state qualifier) will have a good chance to qualify for the state tourney May 18-19 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.
The Eagle boys and girls teams were scheduled to compete in the OSAA SD1 regional tournament May 11-12 at Meadow Lakes Golf Club in Prineville. The top two teams and the top five individual players advance to the state tourney.
