Through the first eight games of the season, the HRV girls lacrosse team has one of the best records in the state at 7-1 overall and 4-1 in conference place.
The girls’ most recent victory came at home on Tuesday night versus Oregon Episcopal School.
HRV and OES would go back-and-forth most of this game, but in the final quarter, HRV would seize control and win by a final score of 15-12, picking up their seventh win of the season.
In the past two games, HRV has outscored its opponents 30-12 and throughout the first-half of this season has outscored opponents 116-55.
Against OES, the girls were led by Abigail Bartles on the offensive end of the field.
Bartles led the Eagles in both goals and assists, scoring five goals and dishing out three assists.
Behind Bartles in the scoring column was Alex Willis, who scored four goals on five shot attempts.
Tori Hopkins and Katherine McElderry each had a pair of goals, while Emma Norris and Lauren Trumbull rounded out the Eagles’ scoring with one goal apiece.
Of the 15 goals scored by HRV, nine were assisted on by six different athletes.
Lauren Orr’s two assists was the second-highest assist total versus OES, behind only Bartles’ three.
The other four assists came from four different Eagles: Eleanor Barton, Hopkins, Norris and Josie Petersen.
Defensively, the girls gave up double-digit scoring for only the third time this season, going 2-1 in those game where they gave up 10-plus goals.
As a team, HRV caused OES to turn the ball over 10 times. This was HRV’s seventh game forcing the opponent into double-digit turnovers.
Ashley Hendricks, Rebecca Kiyokawa and Willis led the Eagles defensively as they each totaled a team-high two caused turnovers versus OES.
Bartles, Barton, Petersen and Trumbull each had one caused turnover.
In the goal, Ella Rand totaled six saves; OES shot 12-18 as a team.
