HOOD RIVER — The Hood River Valley (HRV)OSAA Class 5A boys and girls basketball teams each had four players earn Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC)all league awards on a vote by coaches for their play during the 2025-26 season.
Seniors Talon Britt and Deacon Ybarra capped their HRV boys basketball career by earning honorable mention awards. Eagle junior Grant Dunn also was selected for an honorable mention award, while junior JJ Poole earned a NWOC second team all-league award.
Dunn and Poole were the top two scorers this year, as both averaged in the double figures.
The Eagles concluded the 2025-26 season March 3, finishing in sixth place in the NWOC standings with a 7-9 league mark (10-15 overall). This year was the fourth and final season in the NWOC for HRV, which will move to the Class 5A East Metro Conference this fall.
The HRV Eagles girls basketball team also had four players who earned NWOC all league awards. The senior trio of Emily Doss (second team), Bella Howe (honorable mention) and Mia Garcia (honorable mention) capped their HRV basketball careers by earning NWOC awards. Junior Isa Rivera also was selected for an NWOC honorable mention award.
The Eagles capped the season on March 3 with their best record in their four years in the NWOC. The No. 21-ranked Eagles (9-7 NWOC, 12-12 overall) finished in fifth place in the nine-team league standings, just one game behind the fourth place ,No. 20-ranked Putnam High Kingsmen (10-6 NWOC, 12-14 overall). The Eagles just missed reaching the state playoffs, as Putnam earned the league’s fourth place automatic berth into the postseason.
