DUFUR — Crosspoint Christian beat Dufur, 44-8, in the Nov. 22 Class 1A eight-man football semifinals at Summit High School in Bend.
Running back Nate Gibson finished with 214 yards and five touchdowns on the ground to help the fourth-seeded Warriors take care of business against the top-seeded Rangers. Crosspoint (9-2) led 30-0 at halftime, enjoying a huge advantage in offensive yards over Dufur (10-1).
Gibson scored three times in the first half for the Warriors, who advanced to the state championship game Nov. 29 at Redmond High School against unbeaten Adrian.
The Rangers finally found pay dirt to open up the second half as Choice Richards kept it on a quarterback sneak from a yard out, filling in for Gavin Anderson. The Dufur two-point try was good, and the Warriors led, 30-8, with 8:39 left in the third quarter.
Crosspoint answered quickly, as Gibson broke off his fourth touchdown run, this time from 34 yards out with 4:03 left in the third quarter.
