THE DALLES — The Dalles High wrestler Josh Brackenbury finished second in the 190-pound division to lead the Riverhawks at the Dec. 13 Culver Invitational tournament.
The Dalles finished 17th in the competitive tourney of more than 30 schools, 29 of which scored team points.
Brackenbury was leading his championship match, before Heppner’s Owen Guerra scored a reversal and then won by fall. Brackenburg won four matches en route to the final.
Harley Scott lost his first match, but he battled back to win six of his eight remaining matches to finish fifth at 144 pounds.
Two Riverhawk wrestlers won three wrestled matches: Adrian Miramontes (285), and Moses Witkowski (150). Winning two matches at Culver were: Brenden Manciu (285), Kaedyn Linker (215), and Caleb Brackenbury (150). Danner Varland (106), Ryan Spino (150), and Jesus Chavez (165) each won a match.
