On Feb. 10, our community showed up for our students in a powerful way. Voters approved both the school bond and the Educational Programs and Operations levy, and I want to extend sincere appreciation to every person who took time to learn, ask questions, talk with neighbors, and cast a ballot. Your participation matters. Your support sends a clear message about who we are and what we value as a community.
Our public schools are the fabric of this community. They are where children grow, where families gather, and where traditions take hold. When a community chooses to invest in its schools, it is choosing to invest in its future. This vote reflects a shared belief that our young people deserve strong programs, safe spaces, and meaningful opportunities.
Over the past year, we have seen what makes the White Salmon Valley special. Volunteers made calls, attended meetings, put up yard signs, and engaged in thoughtful conversations. Neighbors listened to one another and worked toward something bigger than any one person. That collective effort speaks to the heart of our community.
This decision creates a legacy. Years from now, students who walk through our schools will benefit from the choices made this winter. They will learn, compete, perform, and grow in spaces made possible by the trust placed in our district and in our shared vision for the future.
We do not take that trust lightly. Together, we are committed to being responsible stewards of the resources our community has approved. We will communicate openly, plan carefully, and keep students at the center of every decision. The work ahead is significant and exciting, and we will move forward together with gratitude and purpose.
Thank you, White Salmon Valley, for believing in our schools.
Thank you for standing behind the young people who call this community home.
Thank you for coming together for our kids.
Together, we strengthen our schools, our community, and our future.
Be proud.
With gratitude,
Rich Polkinghorn
