Regarding “Porn at the library?” (Our readers write, March 23).
What if all moms and dads and the taxpayers who don’t want porn allowed in the library get together and get rid of the problem or the computers? There is nothing in the First Amendment right that says we have to provide computers.
Schools don’t allow porn on their computers. So I am with Janet Holste: Let’s all get together and fix this problem.

Telltale lines
When looking at the old photos of towns, telltale clues to guess the era is horses or cars, gas lights or electric, corsets or mini-skirts.
In Hood River, however, future historians may have trouble because of one glaring anomaly — overhead power lines. Almost no modern city has overhead power lines anymore. Unfortunately, the skyline of Hood River is littered with them.
Why? Money. No one wants to pay to put them underground.
We as a city ought to consider the increase in real estate values, the visual pollution reduction and the beauty of unobstructed views of the Gorge to develop a fast-track plan to bury all utility lines in Hood River. Making this investment will increase the appeal of our city for tourists, mitigate environmental concerns, reduce driving hazards and decrease the risk of brush fires.
