I’ve been setting my recycle bin out on the top of my cement retaining wall for The Dalles Disposal to pick up since recycling started years ago. Recently, instead of putting it back, they have been tossing it in the street, close to the curb between two cars.
I’m disabled and a vet, who is on oxygen. Walking down steps, then down to the end of my sidewalk, and back, carrying the bin is a little harder than walking on my lawn to the retaining wall and back to the house. The difference for him, two steps to put it back where he got it.
I called The Dalles Disposal and talked to Heather. She was nice and apologized for the inconvenience and told me that they are cracking down on their policies and have to put the bin on the curb. They aren’t even doing that.
For me, it presents a huge obstacle since I have to wear and carry my oxygen tank to do a task that normally I wouldn’t need to do. If this is the way they do business, then they could at least comply with their own policy and put it on the curb or toss it to the sidewalk or better yet, toss it into my yard.
That wouldn’t be as difficult for me to retrieve.
All this for something as little as two steps. I guess I just don’t understand that kind of policy in a business these days.
