Letter to the Editor: Talking at the DIG

Over the next several months we have a unique opportunity to enjoy “the DIG” with premium coffee, noshes, and a brief 30-minute-talk given by the Master Gardeners.

This past Saturday I was educated on row covers and other ways to varmint proof my flowering bulbs and vegetables.

The talk was both informative and informal; the coffee, muffins, and fresh peas hit the spot; the scenery and setting were spectacular.

Thank you to our local Master Gardeners for this great way for me to begin my summer Saturday mornings.

The group will host these “garden parties” on into September.

More gatherings are planned on alternate Saturdays, June 29, July 13 and 27, Aug. 10 and 24, and Sept. 7 and 21.

All talks begin at 9 a.m. and end at 9:30 on such wide ranging topics as Pesky Insects, Growing and Using Herbs, Composting, all the way to Green Manure Ground Covers.

Again my thanks to these friendly, knowledgeable gardeners sharing their expertise, their time, and our public garden, the DIG.
