I’m writing this so our community knows about at least one complete failure by our county commission and some of their staff.
I learned by accident earlier this week while discussing escaped cows in the road with my neighbor, while witnessing several rally-related cars going past, the rally has been expanded to our neighborhood.
He found out from another neighbor who was notified just a couple days before, only because his driveway would be closed for the event.
Several years ago, our neighborhood successfully kept this disruptive invasion of race cars from the other side of the state away because we were notified in advance and had the caring ear of previous commissioners.
This year it expanded to us with no notice, so I called Steve Kramer. He thought it was all vetted and no complaints. He called me back awhile later and made me look like an idiot for having the wrong information as I don’t live on any of the roads listed and it hasn’t been moved, therefore no effect on us.
At that point, I rechecked my info to find that I was right. As I prepared to call Mr. Kramer back, he called me. Guess what, he didn’t have all the correct info.
After some discussion I get the arrogant, it’s the way it is, deal with it, attitude. Well, here’s how I’m dealing with it.
I think most of us know our current county commission has a reputation for doing things behind closed doors, and I’m here as living proof they just did it again.
In his re-election bid, Mr. Kramer claims he is going to deliver good communication and transparency in county government.
Well, in this case, there was obviously poor communication between our commissioners and their staff and between all of them and us citizens.
Further, these permit changes with no involvement from the affected citizens show disregard for the voters and transparency.
So, I ask you Steve, when is all this transparency and communication going to happen? Maybe sometime after we re-elect you? Sorry, too late!
I’m sure there is a hundred excuses for what happened, but that’s all they’ll be. You failed Mr. Kramer and I hope many others will join us in voting for Rodger Nichols and, in future elections, we need to finish the house cleaning.
