Letter to Editor: Concerns about city

They chose Nolan Young to be one of two to represent the city in negotiating a $10 million dollar tax abatement, probably a negotiation of greater financial magnitude than any in our history, and then fired him. You don’t have to attend council meetings to question their actions.

When I did attend a meeting being chaired by our mayor, he made a point of letting the room full of concerned citizens know that the meeting to listen to concerns was not required, only a formality.

Remarks like that are not conducive to open dialogue or debate.

Too many decisions are being made before meetings with no debate or dialogue with the community.
