The current administration has put forward an unprecedented immigration agenda in an attempt to reshape immigration policy. President Trump’s successful agenda in the field of immigration has shown that the Executive Branch has much power in restricting immigration laws, and that all you need is an immigration hard-liner to make iniquitous decisions on immigration policy.

The three branches of government have power in the field of immigration laws, but only the Executive Branch has taken a serious role in their implementation. Congress enacted the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) in 1952, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) was tasked with most of the immigration functions.
