THE DALLES — Adventist Health Columbia Gorge (formerly known as Mid-Columbia Medical Center) has announced the closure of its Occupational Health Clinic, effective Feb. 28.
According to a press release, which was posted to the Adventist Health Columbia Gorge website, the closure of the clinic is “part of strategic initiatives to ensure the future of core healthcare services in The Dalles and surrounding communities.”
Patients established with Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Care Clinics are able to seek care from their primary care provider (PCP), said the press release, and, going forward, insurers and employers will be referring patients to their preferred providers.
“As the healthcare landscape continues to shift, healthcare systems have had to make tough choices, often prioritizing resources and implementing cost-cutting measures, particularly in rural areas,” Jayme Thompson, RN, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge administrator, said in the press release. “Because I was born and raised in this area and have been engrained in the organization for more than 20 years, I am deeply committed to protecting our community by ensuring we can sustain the most vital services for a long future.”
According to the press release, the Occupational Health Clinic has been a partner to many local businesses and their employees, with care being provided by Dr. Jayant Eldurkar, MD, who will continue to serve as Adventist Health Columbia Gorge’s medical officer. “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be the occupational medicine provider for many companies and their employees,” Eldurkar said.
The press release noted that the Occupational Health Clinic is separate from occupational therapy, which will continue to serve patients as part of Rehabilitation Services.
