On a cold Friday, Dec. 21, afternoon when most students at Hood River Valley High School were leaving for winter break, the Youth Heart of Hospice YoHOHs met with Santa out in front of the school.
They then went visiting with Heart of Hospice patients throughout Hood River County, including 101-year- old Clyde Wilson.
The YoHOHs delivered YoHOH-made Christmas cards and sang Christmas songs to Heart of Hospice patients.
“We had explained to Clyde that we had not performed together before; he responded something to the effect, ‘Oh, so I’m just your test dummy.’
“We could hardly get through the next song without laughing,” said Jayne Mederios, volunteer coordinator.
“Our visit with Clyde was the first of many visits that afternoon, but it was one of the most memorable visits of the evening,” she said. “The YoHOHs, Santa, and Heart of Hospice patients truly experienced the true meaning of spreading Christmas cheer.”
