Trout fishing derby opens in Washington

KLICKITAT / SKAMANIA CO. — The Washington lowland lakes opened April 26 for the annual trout derby, which runs through Oct. 31.

In Klickitat, Rowland and Spearfish lakes, and in Skamania, Icehouse Lake and Swift Power Canal are derby lakes that will be stocked with “more tagged fish and prizes than ever before,” said a press release. The derby features nearly 1,100 prizes valued at more than $54,000 from more than 100 participating businesses, awarded for trout marked with an orange tag near the dorsal fin.
