 Glenwood kids and parents are winding down from their participation in the county fair and are now getting ready to head back to school next week. I haven’t received any results from the families. I did learn that Glenwood kids Wyatt and Anita Patterson did well with their goats this year. Wyatt received a champion in his goat weight class and was included in the champion drive for showmanship. Anita got blues in market and showmanship.
Other Glenwood kids Jocee and Jentry Hoctor showed their steers. Jentry received reserve champion in market class with Possum and a blue in showmanship. Jocee and Wally looked great out there and received blues in both market and showmanship classes. Both Wally and Possum were so calm and well-behaved. It was obvious they had a lot of attention throughout the year.
The Hoctor girls also participated in many of the county events. Jentry looked great in western games and placed second (by just a few seconds) in the Junior Barrels during the regular rodeo Sunday afternoon. Both girls participated in Western Games and Jocee participated in the team branding. Those girls really know how to work cattle.
Both sisters competed in barrel racing in the Central Washington Ropers and Riders Association events this summer. Jocee has also competed in breakaway roping this year. Busy cowgirls, for sure.

The 2026-27 school year began for Glenwood staff on Monday, Aug. 24. Students returned on the 26th. Have a great school year, Eagles. The high school volleyball team, Lakewood (Trout Lake/Glenwood), under the direction of Coach Jaecee Hoctor with Jade Deiders as Assistant, has started practices and the season begins very soon. The August school board meeting date is Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. in the school library. Please remember all community members are welcome to attend the meetings.
