Two speakers will give a perspective on what is happening across the country and in our state during the Marijuana and Our Youth educational forum at Hood River Valley High School’s Bowe Theater Oct. 3 from 5-7 p.m.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for parents and students to hear about the effects marijuana has on the developing brain,” said Belinda Ballah, Prevention Specialist. Information about addiction and treatment will also be provided during the educational forum.
Those concerned about the impact of marijuana on youth are encouraged to attend, as are parents and age-appropriate students.
Two keynote speakers will share their expertise. Dr. Kevin Sabet, Ph.D, is a former Drug Control Policy Advisor to the White House and Executive Director of Smart Approaches to Marijuana non-profit. He frequently shares his expertise on the national news.
Eric Martin M.A.C., CADCIII, CPS and CRM, is the Director Emeritus of the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon. He’s also International Presenter and Treatment Advocate.
Eric J. Nisley, Wasco County District Attorney, will also be on the panel and lead the discussion following the keynote presentation. He has over 20 years’ experience prosecuting cases in Oregon and is past President of the Oregon District Attorney’s Association.
Those who attend will receive $1 off food purchases from the FFA barbecue booth at that night’s homecoming game, which has a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Spanish translation will be provided. For more information, contact Ballah at 541-387-6890.
