THE DALLES — On Saturday, Nov. 23 the St. Peter’s Altar Society will be raffling off its 27th handmade quilt their 45th Annual Holiday Bazaar.
The bazaar is taking place on Friday, Nov. 22 from noon to 6 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 23. Along with a variety of local vendors selling various handmade and designed goods, there will also be a staffed cafeteria serving food and beverages. The church’s country store will also be open, selling various donated items and baked goods.
“We have a great variety of vendors this year,” said Laurie Miller, secretary of the St. Peter’s Altar Society.
The template of this year’s quilt is called “Evening Star, wishing star,” and was made over the course of the spring and summer by society members Lois Dunsmore, Gladine Hattrup, Brenda Trapp, Linda Huteson, Kathi Hall, Debbie Bariletti and Bobbie Wojtecki. The drawing will take place Saturday evening, and the winner will be contacted by phone (the winner does not have to be present to win). Tickets to be entered into the raffle are $1, or six tickets for $5.
The Altar Society has been selling tickets for the quilt over the course of the year, before and after mass, as well as at Grocery Outlet. “We thank the owner for his generosity in providing us space over the last few weekends,” Miller said.
This year, the Altar society will be honoring former member Nancy Lauterbach, who passed away this October. According to Miller, Lauterbach had been involved making the quilts being raffled off since the fundraiser began.
The Baazar and quilt raffle will be taking place at the St. Peter’s Perish Center at 1111 Cherry Heights Road in The Dalles. The St. Peter’s Altar Society is an organization consisting of women of the Saint Peter’s Church perish. For more information on the Altar Society, go to stpeterstd.org/altar-society.
