THE DALLES — The North Wasco County School District announces Sherri Kilgore as the incoming Principal of The Dalles Middle School (TDMS).

According to a July 18 press release, Kilgore’s experience in middle school education began when she was an English teacher before gaining two decades worth of administrative experience at both the elementary and secondary education levels, with her background including 17 years as principal at Joseph School District service grades 4–12, and Imnaha School, serving grades K-8. Most recently, Kilgore served as principal at McKay Creek Elementary School in Pendleton since 2021.
Throughout her career, she has demonstrated abilities in collaboration, leadership, effective management, and instructional improvement, fostering close-knit teams in her previous districts, said the press release.
“I understand the significant responsibilities that come with being a principal, and I find great fulfillment both professionally and personally in this role,” Kilgore said.
Kilgore is also committed to cultivating environments where students, staff, and parents feel valued and safe. According to the press release, her experience extends to behavior and discipline management, school safety initiatives, and trauma-informed leadership. “I am dedicated to continuously improving and learning, striving to create a school community where everyone feels appreciated and supported,” Kilgore said.
According to the press release, Kilgore will be relocating to the Gorge this summer and will be taking over at TDMS next month. “This opportunity represents a new chapter for me in a community that I have chosen and love,” Kilgore said.
